I had a meeting with the deputy chief of the fire department this week, I learned a lot about the department and where there problems are. I will be meeting with him as well as the department chief and president this coming Tuesday. I will also be attending the fire department's monthly meeting to gain a little bit more information. The following week I will be conducting a focus group to help evaluate some of my progress and get the opinions of members old and young. I will be getting the opinion of social members as well as firefighters.
I am starting the PR campaign this weekend and into next week, I hope to have it written by the end of next week. I will then present the draft to my client and revise where necessary. The situational analysis, problem statement, key publics, and goals and objectives sections should be drafted by Monday afternoon when I have a meeting with a PR professional to get some advice.
They seem to be having problems bigger than I can tackle in one semester, so I am going to narrow my goals and objectives to help them make some baby steps. I may continue to help them after capstone is, as I do have some personal connections to the fire department and the community.
I suggest taking your campaign to Ellerbach for some advise, but with how the class turned out.. might not be the best idea. If you want to see my campaign I would be more than happy to email it to you.
