Week 4 - Williams

Today was a big day for really getting started on my project. Fall break delayed giving out my surveys, so they were finally given to the club members and officers today.

I was not at all surprised about what I found. The officers of the club barely knew anything about good communication. Some major things I found were the lack of knowledge of eblasts, social media, flyers, press releases, handouts, and how to advertise themselves. Many of the questions I asked were left blank or only partially filled out. The member surveys were just for my benefit to see what current communications the club used. Some of the members heard about the club at the activities fair, through word of mouth, emails and/or professors. While these are all great things, they should be done better and more frequently. Furthermore, some of the students said that there is a lack of communication with the club, not enough interest, not enough emails and no promotion.

I had four members fill out a survey and three of the four officers fill out a quiz. This may seem terrible but the club has less than ten members so I was satisfied with the amount of people who participated.

Tonight I did a layout of all of the things I want to list in my manual and what I want to say about each one. I will try to touch on all of the things that need to be worked on for better recruitment. I really want to start actually working on my manual soon. This is going to be one of the biggest challenges of my project.
